THE ENVIRONMENT

The town of La Busta is located sheltered from storms between gentle hills;
hills that thousands of years ago served as shelters for the first settlers,
Its remains can be found in the Cave of El Linar and Los Avellanos.

Its 114 inhabitants are spread across small neighbourhoods: Bazuelo, Carrera, La Espina, La Gesa and El Barriucu;
dedicated primarily to agriculture, livestock, and the industry of the periphery.

It is dominated by a green landscape and a large mass of trees, which surrounds the entire urban centre of La Busta.

Their houses are in a marked mountain style, and still retain their impressive balconies, as well as the arches of the entrance doors and the family coats of arms.

HERITAGE OF THE VILLAGE OF LA BUSTA

HERMITAGE OF SANTA EULALIA
After its original move, it was placed in the centre of the town. It has undergone several renovations, including the addition of various elements and increased length, as well as a small choir above the entrance.
Other notable features include its baroque altarpiece without polychrome in walnut wood, which is now quite deteriorated and is reminiscent of other altarpieces in the Abbey of Santilla del Mar.

GUTIERREZ DEL RIVERO HOUSE
Possessor of another important shield, in this case, it presents the arms of Gutiérrez, Celis, Rivero and Pérez del Río.

Built or renovated by Don Antonio José Gutiérrez de Rivero in the 18th century.

RIVERO AND BUSTAMANTE HOUSE
The Rivero coat of arms presides over the façade of this manor house. On it you can read:
“Go on for more, since you follow me, follow me! After death is life.
The riverbank gives rest to the birds and to me as its lord.”
Built in the second half of the 17th century by Miguel de Rivero.

PARISH CHURCH OF SAN MIGUEL
Its original construction could date back at least to the 10th century. The barrel vault and the baptismal font may date from the same period. One of the restorations from 1774 is documented. It currently preserves a series of altarpieces in the classical style.

LINAR CAVE
Important cavity in which remains from the Acheulian, Mousterian and Magdalenian periods have been found.
These engravings belong to this period.

CAVE OF THE HAZEL TREES
Cave with many entrances or mouths. Animal outlines and shapes have been found in it, and burials have also been found. It had a sepulchral function in the Eneolithic period.
